Cairns Taipans guard Taran Armstrong has been rewarded a two-way contract with the NBA's Golden State Warriors, ESPN's Shams Charania announced on Monday.
After a strong second season in the NBL, averaging 17.1 points per game and 4.7 assists, the 6-foot-6 Tasmanian will now have his sights set on contributing to the Warriors' late-season playoff push alongside Stephen Curry.
On a two-way contract, Armstrong will likely move up and down between the Warriors and their G-League affiliate side, Santa Cruz, a similar concept seen with other Australians who made the jump from NBL to NBA. Former JackJumper Jack McVeigh is the most recent example of this, joining the Houston Rockets on a two-way deal at the beginning of the 2024-25 season.
Armstrong featured in 19 games for the Taipans this season, leading the team in assists and fast break points. His fast-paced flair and eye for playmaking should ensure a smooth transition to the big stage, as his agent Daniel Moldovan highlighted.

"Taran's stellar season saw him receive interest from multiple NBA teams," Moldovan said to NBL Media. "Golden State is the perfect program for him to develop from within. He has a very bright future."
Golden State are on a three-game win streak but still sit just outside the playoff picture, currently 9th in the Western Conference standings with a record of 30-27.
