After a big weekend of NFL action, let's take a look at the big winners and losers from the Week 8 games. (Disclaimer: One game to come, Bills v Patriots)
Winner: Carolina Panthers
The Panthers showed themselves to be a team to be reckoned with in the NFC, putting 36 points on the league's best defence, beating Baltimore 36-21. Cam Newton had another efficient game, completing 21 of 29 passes and throwing for two touchdowns, as the Panthers are now 5-2.
Loser: Green Bay Packers
The Packers are unlucky to be in this spot after playing their best game since Week 1, however one crucial error prevented them from being in position to end the Rams' undefeated streak. Kick returner Ty Montgomery fumbled his return with less than two minutes left, giving the ball and the win ultimately to the Rams.
Winner: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers won their third straight game to go to the top of the AFC North, beating divisional rival Cleveland. Running back James Connor had a third straight game of two rushing touchdowns and had 212 yards from scrimmage.
Loser: Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars started Blake Bortles and paid the price, losing to the struggling Eagles in London 24-18. The Jags did not score a touchdown in the first half. They now have a 3-5 record, with their demolition of the Patriots now feeling like a lifetime ago.
Winner: Houston Texans
The Texans, lead by Deshaun Watson destroyed the Dolphins in the second half of their encounter as Watson threw for five touchdowns. The Texans now have a firm grip on the AFC South and inch closer to a return to the playoffs.
Loser: New York Giants
The sorry Giants had another horror show on the offensive side of the ball, only scoring three points through the first three quarters. Their record now stands at 1-7, the worst in the entire NFL, an astounding feat with two generational talents in Odell Beckham Jr and Saquon Barkley in the team.
