As the end of their second season in Formula One rapidly approaches, HaasF1 team boss Gene Haas has revealed that he has given it five years for the American based squad to start delivering solid results before he is forced to rethink their position.
With two races remaining in the 2017 F1 season, HaasF1 sits eighth in the championship with forty seven points to their credit, however they are only one point behind seventh placed Renault and six points shy of sixth place, which is currently held by Renault.
While they are up on their debut season, points wise, Haas has stated that if they are not where they need to be within five years then they will be forced to rethink their long term future in the pinnacle of Motorsports, but he is confident that they will be winning races within the decade.
โI think if after five years we are still way at the back and not where we want to be, then we would have to rethink whether we still want to be in F1,โ Haas was quoted as saying in AutoWeek. โBut in the five years, there will be opportunities that will manifest themselves that we can take advantage of."
"Hopefully, one of those will be the one that catapults you to at least be mid-team competitive or a little bit better, and from there it is kind of like going up a ladder. It's one step at a time. I would think that in 10 years, we should have the ability to win a race, and if we can't, I guess we failed.โ
