Australian cricket David Warner has confirmed that he will be available for Australia at the Champions Trophy in 2025 if selected.
The star, who retired at the end of the recently completed T20 World Cup, will continue to play franchise cricket but wasn't expected to be available for international selection in any format moving forward.
Taking to social media though in a reflective post on his career, the veteran who has been a long-term member of Australia's team in all three formats admitted that he would be open to playing at the Champions Trophy if selected.
"I will continue to play franchise cricket for a while, and I am also open to playing for Aus [Australia] in the Champions trophy if selected," he wrote in one part of the post.
The Australian opening batsman, who played more than 100 internationals in each format for the nation over his storied career, will be unavailable for all of Australia's lead-up matches given his franchise commitments, which will likely see him plying his trade through the Caribbean, Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
Australia have already suggested back in January when Warner first announced his intentions to hang up the bat that he would be a "break glass in case of emergency" option for the Champions Trophy, which will be hosted by Pakistan in the first quarter of 2025.
The Champions Trophy is the first of its kind since it was originally scrapped by the ICC, with the tournament to run for two weeks, although confirmed dates and fixtures are yet to be announced, while some doubt still lingers over Pakistan's hosting of the tournament given India's stance on touring the nation.
