Paraguayan swimmer and two-time Olympic athlete Luana Alonso has reportedly been kicked out of the Olympic Village for creating an "inappropriate atmosphere".

Competing over a week ago, Alonso failed to qualify from her heat in the 100-metre butterfly before sensationally announcing her retirement from the sport at the age of 20.

However, the swimmer, who is also a social media influencer with over 500,000 followers on Instagram, has once again made headlines, with Alonso reportedly being kicked out of the Olympic Village overnight.

According to Paragay's Olympic chief, Larissa Schaerer, Alonso was kicked out due to inappropriate behaviour and was said to be distracting her teammates who were still competing in the Olympic Games.

“Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay," Schaerer said via The Telegraph.

"We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the athletes' village.”

Accused of creating an "inappropriate atmosphere", Alonso broke her silence on Instagram alongside a photo of her enjoying a drink as the sunset.

"I just wanted to clarify that I was never kicked out or expelled from anywhere, please stop spreading false information," she wrote.

"I don't want to make any statement but I'm not going to let lies affect me either."

It is understood that she has returned back to the United States of America.
