With their focus firmly planted on improving their Formula One results by way of utilizing their resources on aggressive goals for F1, as well as continuing to gain benefits from motorsport racing across the Alliance with Nissan, the French based squad has announced that they will be leaving the Formula E Championship at the conclusion of season 4. An inaugural partner in Formula E, the Renault e-dams team clinched its third consecutive FE season championship in Montreal at the end of July 2017 and will soon begin season 4.

Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi make up the world's largest automotive alliance, focused on collaboration and maximizing synergies to boost competitiveness.
This includes converged functions between Renault and Nissan in engineering, manufacturing and purchasing, and the Alliance goal to move towards increasingly common platforms, notably in electric vehicles.
