Brisbane Roar has signed highly rated former Perth Glory striker Jamie Maclaren.

The 21-year-old was granted a release from his contract with the Glory last week, following the salary cap scandal that ruined the club's 2014-15 campaign.

Brisbane football operations manager Craig Moore said the club is rapt that Maclaren has chosen to sign with the Roar.

โ€œSeveral clubs wanted Jamie and we're delighted he's picked us,โ€ Moore said.

โ€œIt's great that he wants to come to us despite everything that has happened. It shows we're changing in the right direction.

โ€œHe's at the stage where he needs to be playing regular first-team football and he'll have the chance to do that here.

โ€œJamie's a very talented Australian striker and we're confident he's got a lot of goals in him."
