Scott Jamieson has signed a deal to head back overseas, with Swedish giants IFK Gothenburg landed the left-back on a one-year deal.
The 27-year-old spent two years at Bolton Wanderers in England earlier in his career, but was unable to break into the team and returned back to Australia.
Jamieson played for Adelaide, Sydney and Perth before moving to Western Sydney, and the fullback was instrumental in a Wanderers' side that made the grand final.
He played in all but four minutes of the 2015-2016 season and has left the club two months before the season is scheduled to begin, something that coach Tony Popovic isn't too pleased about.
Popovic is reportedly upset at losing such a key member of his starting XI, but a deal to return to Europe was too hard for Jamieson to turn down.
The deal is said to be one year guaranteed with an option for a second year, as Jamieson joins Gothenburg mid-season, with the Swedish club currently in fourth on the Allsvenskan ladder.
