Indian bowler Mohammed Shami will reportedly miss the entirety of the IPL 2024 season after undergoing surgery on his right Achilles tendon.
Having failed to play cricket since the ODI World Cup, Shami is a significant loss for the Gujarat Titans, considering he was their leading wicket-taker last season in the IPL.
To make matters worse, the Titans, who finished in second place last year, traded away Hardik Pandya to the Mumbai Indians in an all-cash deal.
Although he was included in India's squad to take on South Africa, he was withdrawn from the series due to ankle pain.
It originally occurred during the ODI World Cup, where he had to take injections to treat his ankle - playing through pain for the entire tournament.
Set to miss the entire IPL season, it is understood that the injury will also rule him out of the T20 World Cup, which begins five days after the conclusion of the IPL competition.
