Mariaย Sharapova has vowed to fight a career-ending two-year ban after she was found guilty of an โ€œunintentionalโ€ breach of anti-doping laws.

The Russian was given a two-year ban, backdated to January's Australian Open, but she immediately signalled she would contest the decision.

โ€œI cannot accept an unfairly harsh two-year suspension,โ€ Sharapova said in a statement after being found guilty of using banned Meldonium.

Under the judgement, the 29-year-old would not be able play tennis again until the 2018 Australian Open.
