The Melbourne Renegades have signed former Victorian spinner Fawad Ahmed as a replacement player for the remainder of the BBL|12 campaign following a hamstring injury to veteran batsman Shaun Marsh.
Marsh suffered a low-grade hamstring strain in the Renegades' win over the Melbourne Stars earlier this week, with the 39-year-old potentially returning later in the tournament.
His injury, coupled with the upcoming departures of international pair Akeal Hosein & Mujeeb Ur Rahman, has allowed Ahmed to return to the Renegades for the remainder of the summer.
Ahmed is likely to lead spin duties in the absence of the departing duo and is in the frame to play his first match for the Melbourne franchise since his final season with the club in 2014/15.
"Fawad is a proven performer around the world, with our overseas spinners departing after this match we're pleased to sign a player of his calibre to complement our current bowlers," Melbourne Renegades General Manager James Rosengarten said in a club announcement.
The Renegades have also added Marcus Harris to their squad for Saturday night's matchup with Hobart, with the top-order batsman recently being released from his duties within the Australian Test squad.
WA paceman Lance Morris has also returned to the BBL after being released from the Test squad, returning to his home state ahead of the Perth Scorchers' clash with the Brisbane Heat on Saturday night at Optus Stadium.
The Scorchers have also added Chris Sabburg to their squad as a local replacement player, while English bowler David Payne will be available after Faf du Plessis ended his tenure with the BBL club.
International batsman Adam Lyth will conclude his stint with the Scorchers on Saturday night.
