Washington Wizards (123) def Philadelphia 76ers (106)ย
After beating the Wizards by 17 points at home on Wednesday, the 76ers travelled to Washington to face off against the Wizards once again.
Coming into the game Philly were on a four-game winning streak, which was quickly brought to an end by Scott Brooks' team. The 76ers started sluggishly to trail by five points at the end of the first.
This continued into the second term which saw the Wizards further extend their lead to 15 points and outscore the struggling 76ers 38-28. The Wizards continued to dominate for the rest of the game with their largest lead of 26 points occurring midway through the third.
Ben Simmons finished with a double double (15 points, 10 rebounds), adding eight assists and shooting at 46.7 per cent from the field.
Milwaukee Bucks (116) def Houston Rockets (109)
A blockbuster game in Houston saw the East-leading Bucks narrowly defeat James Harden's Rockets by seven points. Both teams came out firing with the Rockets taking the lead at the end of the first after a 29-26 opening quarter.
Extending their lead to 10 points midway through the second, the Rockets remained in control, however, a massive 38-23 third term from the Bucks quickly turned the game around.
Heading in to the fourth, Milwaukee took their biggest lead of the game of 15 points and managed to hold on despite the Rockets surge in the final minutes to get within three points at one stage.
Thon Maker earned just three minutes of court time to have little impact on the game.
New Orleans Pelicans (140) def Cleveland Cavaliers (124)ย
The Cleveland Cavaliers were looking to snap at 10-game losing streak against the Pelicans in New Orleans today. Matthew Dellavedova (10 points in the first quarter) got the Cavs off to a flying start with his team leading 38-25 at the end of the first term.
The Pelicans outscored the Cavs 35-28 in the second quarter to give Cleveland a three-point lead at half time break. However, a massive 41=point third term from the Pelicans quickly turned the game on its head. The Pelicans continued the momentum in the fourth quarter with another 40-point term sealing the comfortable 16-point victory.
Dellavedova shot 75 per cent from the field to finish with with 17 points, four rebounds and seven assists.
Memphis Grizzlies (96) def San Antonio Spurs (86)
The Spurs were looking extend their five-game winning streak against the Grizzlies today in Memphis but fell short 10 points. Despite losing seven of their last 10 games, the Grizzlies led the Spurs for majority of the game, only trailing by 2 points midway through the first quarter.
The Spurs started slow, scoring only 31 points over the first half. A 33-point third quarter gave Greg Popovich's team a lift however, it was not enough to take down Memphis.
Midway through the fourth, Marc Gasol hit a 3-pointer to put the Grizzlies up by 14 points, which signalled game over for the Spurs and the end of a six-game losing streak for Memphis.
The Spurs shot a season-low 36 per cent from the field. Even with the poor team performance, Aussie Patty Mills still recorded 13 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Utah Jazz (106) def Orlando Magic (93)ย
The Jazz extended Orlando's losing streak to four games after beating them by 13 points in Utah.
The Magic opened with a solid first quarter, outscoring the Jazz 32-19. Heading into the second, they remained in control and stretched the margin to 21 points, the largest lead of the game.
After a disappointing third quarter which saw the Magic score only 12 points, the door opened for the Jazz to take the lead heading into the fourth. In the final quarter Utah scored 28 points to Orlando's 18 and sealed the 13-point win.
Joe Ingles shot 50 per cent from the 3-point line (4-from-8) for his 16 points, adding two rebounds and seven assists in 34 minutes of game time.
