Ange Postecoglou has made three changes to his Socceroos side for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Saudi Arabia and Japan.
James Jeggo (Sturm Graz), Craig Goodwin (Sparta Rotterdam) and Bailey Wright (Preston North End) have all been included in the latest squad, as Nathan Burns (FC Tokyo), Apostolos Giannou (Guangzhou R&F) and Josh Risdon (Perth Glory) make way for the new faces.
Matt Ryan has been selected despite reports a knee injury would keep him out of both qualifiers, but Ryan will be given every chance to prove his fitness.
Should the Valencia shot stopper not be available, Mitch Langerak and Adam Federici are on standby for the goalkeeper jersey.
Postecoglou said he was rewarding players that are in form as the European seasons have been in full swing for over a month now, with Jeggo and Goodwin leading the charge at their respective clubs.
โWe've made a couple of slight tweaks to the squad in line with our mantra of selecting players who are in form and fitness and we'd like to have a good look at Craig Goodwin and James Jeggo, who have started their seasons well in Europe,โ Postecoglou said.
โBailey Wright also comes back in after he missed the first two matches through injury and we go to Saudi Arabia and then back to Melbourne with a squad we are comfortable can continue the good start we achieved last month.โ
The Socceroos take on Saudi Arabia on October 6 in Jeddah before hosting Japan at Etihad Stadium on October 11.
