Rhys McKenna, a former captain of the U19s Australian team will return to the Melbourne Stars for the upcoming Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) season.

In what will be her fourth WBBL season with the Stars, McKenna will be eager to add to her 30 caps for the team and is coming off a career-best performance that saw her take 3-18 against the Sydney Thunder last year.

The 20-year-old seamer was born in South Africa before moving to Victoria and has stood out throughout her junior career.

This saw her captain the U19s Australian team at the ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup in 2023.

“I love playing for the Stars in the WBBL and after missing out on the game at the MCG last year, I'd love to get the opportunity to play there in WBBL|10,” she said.

“Rhys has an enormous amount of potential and we can't wait to see what she produces this season,” added General Manager Blair Crouch.

“She's worked hard to get back from her stress fracture last year and we believe she can make significant improvements in WBBL|10.”
