Three weeks after facing each other in the World Series, Aaron Judge (New York Yankees) and Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Dodgers) have both claimed unanimous MVP honours.

After moving to the Dodgers, Ohtani was unanimously named the National League MVP after winning his first World Series in his career.

This came after he led the National League in homers (54), RBIs (130) and OPS (1.036) while adding 59 stolen bases to his season statistics - 39 more than his previous career high.

Claiming his third MVP, Ohtani has become the first full-time designated hitter to earn the award, with shortstop Francisco Lindo (New York Mets) and second baseman Ketel Marte (Arizona Diamondbacks) being the other two finalists.

In the American League, Aaron Judge also claimed unanimous MVP honours over finalists shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (Kansas City Royals) and teammate Juan Soto (New York Yankees).

In what is his second MVP of his career - after winning it in 2022 - Judge led the majors in homers (58), RBIs (144) and OPS (1.159) and is only the seventh Yankee to win multiple MVPs.

This means he joins Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Alex Rodriguez, and Roger Morris on the prestigious list.
