Red Bull Holden Racings' Shane van Gisbergen was hit with a double penalty in the third race of the Australian Grand Prix weekend thid afternoon after race stewards took a 40 second penalty for contact with Tim Blanchard down into turn one at the start and a further ten seconds for failing to follow the rolling start procedure correctly.

As a result, his drive from 21st through to tenth was all for naught as the demotions sent him back to 21st when all was said and done.

It seems as if the rolling start, which is unique to Albert Park this weekend, is meant to be done in a certain way, something van Gisbergen failed to adhere to.

The cars are meant to travel at a certain speed and are meant to be one car length behind the car in front.

The Kiwi has yet to comment on the penalty, that comes on top of his dnf from race two yesterday.
