David Warner has warned Cameron Green about packing his schedule too tightly next season as the young gun looks towards the 2023 Indian Premier League season.

Green nominated for the IPL auction and is expected to attract plenty of attention as he continues to improve, but will be facing a packed schedule after the tournament.

The IPL will begin on March 25, 2023, running through to the end of May.

Australia are scheduled to play a white-ball series in South Africa in August, followed by the World Cup in India in November, with tours of India and England also on the agenda.

Speaking to media ahead of Wednesday's first test against the West Indies, Warner admitted that while the experience was "great", Green has to be cautious about his workload.

"From an experience point of view it's great," Warner said.

"From a playing point of view, he's got four Test matches and a few one-dayers after it.

"Nineteen weeks straight in India, being your first trip as well, can be quite challenging from the heat perspective, the playing, the recovery.

"I've been through it, I've done the test series and the IPL straight before. It is tough. Then on the back of that you've got five test matches in England.

"Then I think you've got 20 days off before you go to Africa and then go to a World Cup (in India).

"Glenn Maxwell did it a couple of years ago, played the whole year and then was cooked come the (home) season."

Green is set to feature in Australia's upcoming test series against the West Indies, beginning on Wednesday at Optus Stadium.
