Stan Wawrinka has upset world No.1 Novak Djokovic to claim his third career Grand Slam title.
Wawrinka won his first US Open 6-7(1), 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 in three hours and 55 minutes on Monday morning AEST to add to his Australian Open and Rolands Garros crowns.
The 31-year-old has a perfect record in Grand Sam finals, winning three from three and he now takes his winning streak at tour level finals to 11.
Heย becomes the oldest man to win the US Open since Australia's Ken Roswell (35) in 1970.
Djokovicย had two medical timeouts in the fourth sets as he appeared to be hampered by severe blisters on his foot. However, Wawrinka's attack and hunger, particularly on the big points was simply too good for Djokovic, as he hit 46 winners and saved 14 of 17 break points during the match.
Wawrinka also becomes the fifth man to win multiple Grand Slam title after the age of 30, joining Rod Laver, Ken Rosewell, Andre Agassi and Jimmy Connors.
