With more than 160 games in the regular season alone, a Major League Baseball schedule is without doubt a marathon and not a sprint.
And like any marathon run, there are missteps, with history showing that even the greatest teams on record can't expect to remain perfect.
Take the 1906 Chicago Cubs for example who won a league-record 116 out of their 152 games, meaning that while this group of Northsiders have no peer, they still managed to lose more than 23 per cent of their outings.
With it all to play for at the start every season for all 30 franchises, getting a jump on the competition may be imperative but it is also tough.
Still, certain teams have been known to get hotter than July in the early days of April.
Ahead of the 2024 Major League Baseball season, the record for the hottest starts sits at 13, with the following teams all proving perfect for their opening fortnights.
