Ever since the inaugural tournament in 1934, The Masters has always welcomed amateur golfers into its field.
Although no amateur has ever won a coveted green jacket, plenty of these bolt-from-the-blue golfers have been in contention late on the Sunday.
Ahead of the 2024 tournament, 11 amateurs have finished within the leaderboard's top 10, with the vast majority of these occurrences arising during the mid-twentieth century.
Mexican Santiago de la Fuente, South African Christo Lamprecht, Australian Jasper Stubbs and Americans Stewart Hagestad and Neal Shipley will earn their opportunity to add themselves to the group below as the only amateur members of the 2024 Masters field.
