The Commonwealth Games is an event that happens every four years, it's an international multi-sport event among athletes who reside in the Commonwealth Nations.

These nations include Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Wales, Scotland, and New Zealand, to name a few.

There are a number of different sporting events, many similar to Olympic events. The Commonwealth Games falls between the Olympics, happening in the middle of the four-year Olympic window.

Australia is usually very successful at the Commonwealth Games.

Below are the top five Australian athletes who have won the most Commonwealth Games medals in history.

  1. Emma McKeon - Swimming:  20 Medals (14 gold, 1 silver, 5 bronze) at the 2014, 2018, 2022 Games

2. Phillip Adams - Shooting: 18 Medals (7 gold, 9 silver, 2 bronze) at the 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 2002 Games.

3. Susie O'Neill - Swimming: 15 Medals (10 gold, 5 silver) at the 1990, 1994, 1998 Games.

3. Emily Seebohm - Swimming: 15 Medals (7 gold, 4 silver, 4 bronze) at the 2010, 2014, 2018 Games.

5. Bruce Quick - Shooting: 14 Medals  (1 Gold, 9 Silver and 4 Bronze) at the 1990, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 Games.
