World No.2 joins Brisbane International field

World No.2 Simona Halep will join the likes of Maria Sharapova and Sam Stosur as the major draw cards at next year's Brisbane International.

It will be the first time Halep has contested the event and the tournament will now contain nine of the top 20 female players in the world.

The Australian Open lead up tournament will also feature five of the world's top 20 men, as well as Aussies Sam Groth and Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Halep, the 2014 French Open runner-up has also recently hired Australian Darren Cahill as her new full time coach to help her taste the ultimate success and claim an elusive Grand Slam title.

The Brisbane International runs from January 3-10, 2016.
